The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
